Power f t Past minutes The February 5, 2018 meeting was held at Peace in the Valley Lutheran Church, 551 S. J Six Ranch Road, Benson. It was attended by Board members Jim White, Seth Hoyte, Ruth Senkbeil, Mel Perkins, Virgil Schmidt, Karen Reid plus 25 members. John and Judy Overton also attended the meeting and joined the club. The January minutes and the Treasurer’s Report were read and approved by the Board. Larry Kastens is doing well since his knee surgery. He was able to drive to and attend the meeting. Wayne Stevens was hospitalized for five days and lost the end of one finger due to infection, but he is better and also attended the meeting. Unfortunately, George O’Day has lost a grandson in an accident. A show at the Tucson Rodeo Grounds is not possible in the near future, however, Mel Perkins shared a full page newspaper advertisement for the rodeo which had photographs of our donations to the museum, acknowledging our gifts, and inviting the public to enjoy the exhibit. Jerry Hayes reminded the group that we have an open invitation to have plow days at the pecan farm in Sahuarita. He also stated that our parking situation for the Pecan Festival will change and will be even better than past events. Ruth Senkbeil made the motion and it was approved by the Board to hold public auction of the International Harvester Cub Low-Boy tractor and other equipment or tools during the Pecan Festival. The Board also voted that the club should pursue obtaining economical, light weight and uniform safety stanchions. Larry Kastens has been using stanchions which he designed and manufactured from small discs with rebar uprights. He will bring samples to the next show, Tucson Culver’s, so that the group can determine if this is the best stanchion option. Daryl Dwyer invited the club to participate in the April 21st Oracle Oaks Festival. The event has traditionally been a car show, and attracting a few hundred people. This year space is being made to include Power from the Past. The day’s events include a parade, auction, book sale, food vendors, children’s activities, and arts and crafts. Meeting adjourned. Minutes submitted by Karen Reid, Secretary.
